Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD) is the enforcement arm of the privacy protection system in Brazil, constantly working to interpret, implement, and enforce the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) of the nation. Acting as the main data protection organization of Brazil, the ANPD audits public and private organizations, conducts investigations into data breaches, and receives complaints from users about any misuse of data. Besides conducting routine supervision duties, the ANPD also develops technical standards for companies, receives mandatory notifications about security incidents, and monitors international transfers of data, as demonstrated in its harmonization of Resolution No. 32/2026 to ensure seamless transfer of GDPR-compliant data with the European Union. In light of new laws like the Digital ECA (Law No. 15,211/2025), the agency ensures that proper age verification measures and transparency reports are in place for the protection of children, while at the same time regulating the use of advanced technologies in Brazil, including AI models trained using data from Brazil.
