Cyber Security Agency of Singapore CSA
Who they are
The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) is the agency that provides centralized management of cybersecurity in Singapore as far as strategy, operations, awareness, outreach, and ecosystem development are concerned. The CSA was founded on April 1, 2015, as an organization under the Prime Minister’s Office and run by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI). It is authorized to secure Singapore’s cyberspace under the Cybersecurity Act of 2018. The CSA is mandated to ensure the protection of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) in strategic sectors such as energy, water, banking, and transportation in the maritime space.
What they do
The CSA of Singapore monitors and defends the country’s cyberspace to ensure that its national assets are protected and to drive its digital economy, as well as the security of the digital lives of its citizens. The CSA does this by ensuring the resilience of the CII by regulating it in various important sectors, such as banking, transport, energy, and water. The agency drives the Singapore Cybersecurity Strategy, whereby it ensures that regulatory codes of practice are enforced, uses artificial intelligence in identifying threats in the NC3, and undertakes overall national cyber defense operations. Apart from ensuring the resilience of the CII, CSA carries out incident response in the country using SingCERT, provides protective services like web blocking under the Online Criminal Harms Act, creates mandatory benchmarking of products like the Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme, and ensures the development of the cyber workforce through future initiatives.
