Malaysia is an energetic Southeast Asian nation with its own culture, economy, and distinctive geographic location near major international trade routes. Peninsular Malaysia comprises thirteen states and three federal territories, along with the states of Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo. The capital of the nation is Kuala Lumpur that acts not only as the administrative center but also as the business center of Malaysia.

There is only one distinguishing characteristic of Malaysia that is multiculturality. The various ethnic groups, including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Aboriginal, and many others, reside in Malaysia, resulting in a multicultural, multi-linguistic, multi-religious, and multi-cuisine nation. The official language of the nation is Bahasa Malaysia, while English is also important in conducting business activities.

From the economic viewpoint, Malaysia has become a diversified and advanced economy. The manufacturing industry, services, tourism, energy generation, commodities, finance, and foreign trade are the areas involved in the process of development of Malaysia. With the help of its advanced infrastructure, educated workforce, digital economy, and economic relations with ASEAN and the global economy, Malaysia has become a country of preference for foreign businesses.

Moreover, there is another distinctive feature of Malaysia – its unique legal environment. The common law system forms the basis of the legal system; however, some elements of constitutional law, statutes, Islamic law, and customary law influence some spheres of Malaysian life and law.
