Who they are
A statutory central bank established in 1959 and governed principally by the Central Bank of Malaysia Act 2009. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) acts as the country’s monetary authority and financial-system supervisor.
What they do
Sets and implements monetary policy; promotes monetary and financial stability; regulates and supervises banks, insurers and takaful operators, payment systems and other regulated financial institutions; oversees AML/CFT and targeted financial sanctions compliance; manages the country’s reserves; and issues regulatory, prudential, risk-management and governance standards.
