Who they are

The Central Bank of Ireland is the sole financial regulator in the Republic of Ireland and part of the Eurosystem. The Central Bank serves as the national central bank and the primary financial services supervisor. This institution is entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining domestic monetary stability, consumer protection, and supervision of the safe running of the banking, insurance, investment funds, and credit union sectors. The Central Bank operates as one of the key regulators in the world because of supervising the gigantic international financial services industry of Dublin.

What they do

Central Bank of Ireland conducts various financial, supervisory, and economic activities. It acts as the national competent authority of the Eurosystem and works together with the European Central Bank (ECB) to establish regional monetary policy, maintain price stability, and ensure the issuance of Euro currency. In addition to this, it acts as the sole, all-powerful supervisor of over 10,000 financial service providers by constantly auditing retail banks, credit unions, insurance companies, and investment funds to make sure they have sound finances and are strictly adhering to consumer protection laws. Moreover, it acts as the defense mechanism of the state against financial crimes through enforcement of rigorous Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures, systemic macroprudential risks, the digital asset ecosystem (e.g., crypto assets), and resolution authority.
